The pump from your eBay link should be for a pre-facelift with IVD. DTC C1288 relates to a faulty pressure sensor of the pump. Most time this fault is caused by faulty hydraulics of the pump. If your pump has a removable module you can change the pump only. Note that after replacing the pump it must be bled using a suitable diagnostic system
Hi. I have a 2008 1.8 TDCI and my ECU is located behind the front bumper, in front of nearside wheel arch liner. Had the same symptoms as you many months ago and it turned out to be the instrument cluster at fault. It seems it's quite common for bad solder joints on the multi plug connector at rear of clocks. 1.
